Welcome to the Southwest, dear British -Southern girl! I am in Phoenix, and I wish it were more like Santa Fe, but it’s home.
As always, reading about your bumpy roads, inspiring and at times sad moments is a wonder and balm. Enjoy the food, the sunsets, all the moments of this experience. Keep us posted, you are loved. Abrazos fuertes!
I’m so glad you’re settling in and feeling supported! Wishing you more moments of belonging and looking forward to hearing about the new and wonderful connections you’re making!
I had a swamp cooler in the little cowboy cottage I rented one year in the southern AZ desert. This Mainer was astounded both by its existence and it’s efficiency!! I kept wishing there was a similar invention to replace my car’s AC.
If I could live landbound, i would be in Santa Fe or Taos. So much to love there! The people, the food, the culture to name just a few. I have a deep affection for the culture and spirit of our Native Americans everywhere, but my first contact was in Albuquerque, SF and Taos. The scenery there is, as you say, exquisite from top to bottom. Oh, and in the fall, the clouds actually have silver linings. My heart ❤️ is there maybe because I was born in Carlsbad. We moved when I was a baby, but I visited the area several times as an adult and fell in love a little more each time.
The Land of Enchantment is so well-named...
